The Department is looking for a fresh graduate to join its Environmental Programmes team in the Eastern Cape. This entry‑level role will help organise, monitor and report on training activities that are part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). What You Will Do
- Help run training sessions that support the Department’s environmental projects.
- Enter and check data – keep participant records neat and up‑to‑date.
- Plan and coordinate training events, making sure everything runs on schedule.
- Check that training meets standards set by the EPWP and the Department.
- Write simple reports on training progress and submit them on time.
- Give new participants an orientation so they know what to expect.
- Assist in preparing the annual training plan and updating it as needed.
- Track attendance, hours and completion for each trainee.
- Talk with partners from youth and contractor development programmes.
- Represent the programme at local meetings and forums.
- Help evaluate training outcomes at the project level.
- Stay in touch with internal teams and external partners to keep everyone informed.
- Follow EPWP rules and departmental guidelines in all tasks.
- Provide general admin support for the training function.
Who Should Apply
- Holds a National Diploma (NQF 6) or higher in Development Studies, Public Management or a similar field.
- No previous work experience required – recent graduates are welcome.
- Comfortable using computers and basic software (Word, Excel, email).
- Can put together clear reports and handle structured data.
- Knows a bit about South Africa’s skills‑development legislation (a plus).
- Familiar with SAQA accreditation processes (helpful but not essential).
- Has some knowledge of EPWP programmes (advantageous).
- Communicates well with different people and can build relationships.
- Organised, able to plan tasks and meet deadlines.
- Works well under pressure and can handle more than one task at a time.
- Willing to travel within the Eastern Cape and work extra hours when needed.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good at analysing information and gathering details.
