- Basic knowledge of the rules that govern civic services and public service work.
- Awareness of how supply‑chain processes work.
- A current driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel, work longer hours when needed, and sometimes on weekends or overtime.

What You’ll Do Every Day
- Oversee the daily work of the civic services team in the office.
- Make sure the public receives fast and friendly service; step in when standards slip.
- Create clear reports that show how many documents were processed and any errors that occurred.
- Put quality‑control checks in place to keep service standards high.
- Keep records safe in line with Department of Home Affairs (DHA) rules.
- Assign tasks to staff and track their progress toward daily targets.
- Finish each day by noting any issues, summarising performance, and preparing reports.
- Spot problems in the workflow—like lack of training or bottlenecks—and suggest improvements to managers.
- Watch for patterns that could indicate bigger issues and act to fix them.
- Use system overrides only when absolutely necessary.
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) without exception.
- Handle special cases such as confirming the identity of illegal foreigners who have been arrested or detained.
- Supervise the processing of ID smart cards, birth, marriage and death registrations, late registrations, and any changes to personal details.
- Manage the unit’s human, physical, and financial resources efficiently.
