The primary purpose of this position is to provide security services and safeguard SARB’s assets while ensuring compliance with legal and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

As a Security Official, your daily duties will include:

Access and Patrol:

  • Controlling entry and exit points to prevent unauthorized activities.
  • Guarding, patrolling, and escorting duties to secure SARB facilities.

Emergency Management:

  • Identifying and responding to security threats or emergencies.
  • Conducting evacuations and participating in emergency drills.

System Monitoring:

  • Utilizing security equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Reporting incidents and maintaining security logs.

Documentation:

  • Writing detailed reports and updating occurrence books.
  • Filing and maintaining accurate security records.

Compliance:

  • Adhering to SARB policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Staying informed about new security protocols and technologies.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must have:

  • Minimum Education:
    • Grade 12/Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
    • PSIRA Grade C registration.
    • Firearm competency certificate for 9mm pistols, semi-automatic rifles, and shotguns.
  • Work Experience:
    • 2–5 years in a security-related environment.
  • Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with the National Key Points Act, Firearms Control Act, and SARB operational procedures.
  • Fitness Requirements:
    • Medical, psychological, and physical fitness suitable for long hours and shift work.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent writing and reporting skills.
    • Understanding of security systems and equipment.
    • Ability to adapt to change and perform under pressure.
