What the Programme Is About

SANParks is looking for young people who love wildlife, nature and tourism to join a 12‑month Tourism Graduates Programme. If you are chosen, you will sign a contract for the whole year and be responsible for your own housing and travel costs. The role gives you practical experience in managing tourism activities inside South Africa’s national parks.

Where You’ll Work

The job placements are spread across the many national parks managed by SANParks. You could be based near famous sites such as Kruger National Park, the Table Mountain National Park, or the Addo Elephant National Park, depending on where the programme needs you most.

  • South African citizens aged 18 to 35.
  • Hold a National Diploma or Degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Conservation, or a related field.
  • Have a valid South African ID and certified copies of your qualifications.
  • Can work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and occasional evenings.
  • Are enthusiastic about tourism, wildlife and customer service.
  • People with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Tip: Incomplete applications or missing documents will not be considered, so double‑check everything before you submit.

What You’ll Need to Send

  1. Detailed CV – list your education, any work experience and skills related to tourism or conservation.
  2. Copies of your qualifications – diploma or degree certificates.
  3. Copy of your ID – make sure it’s a clear, certified copy.
  4. Cover letter (optional but recommended) – tell us why you love tourism and why you want to work in a national park.

All files must be uploaded through the official application link or scanned QR code. After you have uploaded, also email the same documents to Karoo.Vacancies@sanparks.org.

How the Selection Works

  1. Shortlisting – The hiring team reviews all complete applications and picks candidates who match the criteria.
  2. Interview – Shortlisted applicants are invited for a virtual or in‑person interview to discuss their motivation and fit for the role.
  3. Medical Check – If you pass the interview, you will need to complete a basic medical assessment to ensure you can work in the field.

Only candidates who reach the interview stage will receive any further communication. If you haven’t heard back within two weeks after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful. SANParks reserves the right to fill the positions without further notice.

Salary and Benefits

The programme offers a competitive monthly stipend that covers living expenses while you gain hands‑on experience. You will also receive on‑the‑job training, mentorship from park professionals, and the chance to network with leaders in South African tourism and conservation.
