Job Purpose
As an Assistant Learning Manager at Unilever, you will play a crucial role in leading site strategies and factory master plans for capability development. You will support the People Development agenda for Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) and assist with the digital transformation journey. Additionally, you will manage various skills development programs, ensuring alignment with the BBBEE Strategy and handling the partnership with relevant SETAs.
Main Responsibilities
- Learning Programs Management: Oversee training programs such as Internships, Learnerships, Operator Skills, and Apprenticeships.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: Manage the recruitment process to support the Employment Equity strategy and handle onboarding and training plans.
- Grant Management: Ensure timely submission of reports, applications, and claims related to discretionary grants.
- Capability Development: Develop site capability plans based on skills assessments and work with HR to secure training budgets.
- Compliance and Auditing: Ensure legal compliance through SHEQ training and audits, and support site audits.
- Committee Support: Lead the Training & Development Committee and support the Employment Equity Committee.
- Digital Adoption: Promote and drive digital learning programs and manage the Buildapp People Development Module.
- Budget Management: Plan training budgets, source providers, and track monthly training spend.
- BBBEE Compliance: Monitor and ensure quality submissions for BBBEE compliance and handle annual audit submissions.
- Training Centre Management: Oversee accreditation renewal, facility upkeep, and program quality.
- Leadership: Provide support and direction to the Learning Coordinator.

Experiences & Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
- 3 years of experience in factory training within a technical, FMCG, or manufacturing environment.
- Preferably experienced in Unilever Manufacturing System, Total Productive Maintenance, Lean Manufacturing, or People Development.
- Skills Development Facilitator experience with strong skills assessments (or willingness to study towards it).
- Ability to work in a highly unionized environment.
- Understanding of SAQA, NQF’s, and SETAs.
- Strategic thinking to develop a learning needs analysis plan.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems and MS Office tools.
- Strategic thinking and stakeholder management.
- Strong coaching and mentorship abilities.
