Tshwane University of Technology invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Counselling Psychology Internship vacancies. The closing date for applications is 28 July 2026.
The Department of Student Development and Support (SDS) has three open spots for a one‑year Counselling Psychology internship at the Pretoria West campus. The placement begins on 2 January 2027 and is designed for students who want real‑world experience helping fellow learners.
What You Need to Do

- Fill it out exactly as shown and attach it to your CV.
- Include certified copies of:
- Your highest qualification (Honours or M1 level)
- Your South African ID document

You may also be asked to give a short presentation or take a competency test during the selection process.
What the Internship Involves
- One‑to‑one counselling for registered TUT students on the Pretoria West campus.
- Helping students grow both academically and personally.
- Running webinars, awareness drives, creating social‑media posts, and teaching life‑skill classes.
- Providing individual and group counselling for children at a nearby children’s home.
- Completing required paperwork for the SDS office.
- Working well with other team members and supporting a positive team vibe.
Minimum Qualification
- You must be currently enrolled in a Master’s programme (MA) in Counselling Psychology at a recognised university.
Personal Skills That Matter
- Comfortable working with people one‑on‑one or in groups.
- Good at handling stress and managing your time.
- Able to communicate clearly and listen actively.
- Skilled at mentoring, giving advice, and offering guidance.
- Organized, independent, and willing to take responsibility.
- Team‑oriented, but also able to act on your own initiative.
- Creative, willing to try new ideas, and proactive.
- Strong at presenting ideas, lecturing, and facilitating group sessions.
You must also follow a professional code of ethics and keep all client information confidential.
