Clicks Group is looking for three friendly people to join the team at its Sunward Park shop. The jobs are permanent and perfect for anyone who enjoys helping customers, handling cash, and keeping the store tidy. As a Shop Assistant / Cashier you will scan items, take payments, promote the Clicks ClubCard, and make sure the shelves look great.
What the job is all about
The main aim of this role is to give shoppers a great experience. You will work at the checkout, make sure every item is scanned correctly, and handle money safely. You’ll also talk to customers about current discounts, explain how the ClubCard works, and keep the store clean and organized. Knowing the latest products and promotions will help you answer questions quickly and accurately.
Key duties
- Scan items fast and correctly at the checkout.
- Take cash, cards, or electronic payments and give correct change.
- Register ClubCard points and rewards for shoppers.
- Keep cash safe and follow all cash‑handling rules.
- Tell customers about the Clicks ClubCard and sign them up when they’re interested.
- Share information on current sales and specials so shoppers can save money.
- Greet everyone with a smile and act as a friendly Clicks brand ambassador.
- Arrange products on shelves according to the store’s visual plan.
- Pick up any litter, restock shelves, and help keep the shop neat.
- Stay up‑to‑date with new products, offers, and store events.
- Follow all store procedures for a smooth operation.
- Work with the team to meet sales targets and keep customers happy.
What you need to have
- A completed Grade 12 certificate (minimum requirement).
- At least 50 % in Mathematics and English at Grade 12 (preferred).
- Experience talking to customers in a shop or similar environment is a plus.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and cash.
- An idea of how retail or fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) stores work.
- Understanding of how to display products and run promotions.
- Ability to keep track of stock and help with inventory tasks.
- Strong focus on giving great customer service.
- Good organization and planning skills to handle daily tasks.
- Problem‑solving ability for customer questions or store issues.
- Clear communication when speaking with shoppers and teammates.
- Basic computer knowledge for using the POS system.
- Ability to work well with others and follow instructions.
- Drive to meet targets and keep customers satisfied.
- Persuasive skills are useful when encouraging ClubCard sign‑ups.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and bounce back from setbacks.
