Job Overview

Cape Herb & Spice, a member of the Libstar group, is looking for a full‑time HSE Administrator to work in Maitland, Cape Town. This is an entry‑level position for someone who is organized, pays attention to details, and likes to keep things running smoothly. The role supports the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team and helps keep all safety and environmental records up to date. In May 2027 the job will move to the Montague Park site.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep track of HSE and ESG data such as waste, water use, energy consumption, and emissions.
  • Update the internal HSE databases with the latest information.
  • Help prepare and send the data required by customers and regulators on time.
  • Create clear HSE and ESG reports before the set deadlines.
  • Organize HSE files, inspection paperwork, and compliance records.
  • Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) records so they are always current.
  • Arrange HSE meetings, take minutes, and follow the compliance schedule.
  • Assist with required inspections, training documents, and related paperwork.
  • Support the administration of COID (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases) claims.
  • Work with the HSE team across several facilities to keep all administrative tasks on track.
  • Keep all documentation for HSE and environmental processes accurate and ready.
  • Look for ways to improve how HSE administration and reporting are done.

What You Need

  • Good skills with Microsoft Office and basic computer programs.
  • Ability to collect, retrieve, and analyse data correctly.
  • Strong focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organization skills for handling records, reports, and many tasks at once.
  • Clear written, spoken, and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work across different sites.
  • A proactive, self‑disciplined attitude.
  • Capability to work independently and own the tasks you are given.
  • Problem‑solving skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to keep learning and improve processes.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with coworkers in different departments.
  • Commitment to high health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Knowledge of food‑safety rules (such as GMP, HACCP, BRC) is helpful.
  • Familiarity with HSE legislation and environmental regulations is an advantage.
