What’s This Job All About?

As a Permanent Store Assistant, you’ll be working on the front line—welcoming customers, helping them find what they need, and making sure the store looks amazing at all times. Your role is important because you’re the first person shoppers will meet. You’ll make them feel special and give them the kind of service that keeps them coming back. This isn’t just a job where you stand around. It’s a hands-on position where you’ll be busy with things like organizing stock, managing the till, keeping the store clean, and making sure every customer walks away happy.

What You’ll Be Doing Each Day

Let’s break it down. Here are some of the main tasks you’ll be doing:

Cash Handling and Till Operations

  • Run the till like a pro, making sure every sale is correct
  • Balance the cash at the end of each shift with zero errors
  • Know how to handle manual payments if needed

Stock & Product Control

  • Help with receiving and arranging new stock
  • Keep shoes paired and displayed neatly
  • Do regular stock counts so the store is always in order
  • Take care of customer orders and make sure they’re right

Customer Service and Sales

  • Talk to customers, understand what they’re looking for
  • Help them choose products that suit their style
  • Give fashion advice and explain the features of different shoes and accessories
  • Create an experience that’s smooth, classy, and personal

What You Need to Have

To get this job, you don’t need years of experience. But you do need the right attitude and a few important things:
  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience working in a shop (preferably fashion or luxury retail)
  • A passion for fashion, shoes, and making customers happy
  • Good with numbers and quick when it comes to handling cash
  • Strong attention to detail (especially when dealing with stock and displays)
  • Able to work under pressure and meet store deadlines
  • Friendly and helpful – a real team player who works well with others
