The South African Reserve Bank invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Graduate Development Programme vacancies. The closing date for applications is 30 April 2026.
What the Programme Is All About
This is a one‑year, full‑time programme that starts in February 2027 and ends in January 2028. You will work at the SARB Head Office and be placed in a specific department where you will help with real‑world projects.
While you’re on the job, you’ll also go to the SARB Academy for short courses and workshops. These sessions teach you the basics of central banking and also give you skills that look good on any resume, such as:
- Speaking confidently in front of a group
- Creating clear PowerPoint slides
- Writing reports that get noticed
- Working well with others
- Professional etiquette and personal excellence
What Happens After the First Year?
When the 12‑month period ends, the bank may offer you a permanent spot in the department where you performed best. They look for candidates who:

- Are eager to help shape things like monetary policy, currency, financial stability, or the supervision of banks

Who Can Apply?
You need a postgraduate qualification (honours level, NQF 8) in one of the subjects listed below. The bank accepts a wide range of study areas because they need fresh ideas from many fields.

- Accounting, Auditing, Law
- Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering

- Have completed an honours degree (NQF 8)

- Scored higher than 65 % in your final year
