What the Casual Merchandiser Does

Everyday Tasks
- Take new stock from the storeroom and put it on the right shelves quickly.
- Check dates on products so nothing past its sell‑by date stays on the floor.
- Rotate items using the “first‑in, first‑out” rule so older stock sells first.
- Report low stock, broken items, or expired goods to the manager.
- Help count stock during regular checks and keep records accurate.
- Follow the store’s layout plan (planogram) so every product is in its proper place.
- Flatten boxes after unpacking and move them to the recycling area.
- Make sure shelf labels and prices are clear and match the system.
- Tell the manager right away if any price looks wrong.
- Stay up‑to‑date with new products that the store starts selling.
- Build and tidy product displays following Dis‑Chem’s guidelines.
- Keep the shop floor and back‑room clean and organized.
- Load and unload boxes when needed, lifting safely.
- Mark items without barcodes so they can be scanned later.
- Help train new team members on basic tasks.

- Basic computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
- Good command of English – speaking and writing.

- Strong communication skills for dealing with customers, managers, and teammates.
