What the job is about
During the three‑year Sanlam CA Training Programme you will move through several departments in the Sanlam Group. Each rotation gives you a chance to learn how the company creates value and to pick up the skills that SAICA (the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants) says you need to become a Chartered Accountant (CA (SA)).
You will work on things like:
- Ethics and good citizenship
- How a business works (business acumen)
- Making smart decisions (decision‑making acumen)
- Building relationships (relational acumen)
- Using digital tools (digital acumen)
- Business and finance strategy
- Internal audit work
- Governance and risk management
- Preparing reports
- Tax matters
What will help you succeed
- Finish the SAICA‑approved training program and meet all the academic, practical and competency standards required for CA (SA).
- Help with interim and yearly financial reports by doing accurate work, applying the right technical rules, and understanding both group and statutory reporting needs.
- Show strong professional standards: act ethically, be accountable, work well with others and keep learning.
- Join ad‑hoc projects and special tasks, showing initiative, flexibility, problem‑solving skills and the ability to work across different teams.
Qualifications and experience you need
- A Certificate in the Theory of Accountancy (CTA) or a SAICA‑recognised postgraduate program that lets you sit for the Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC).
- At least a 60 % average in your university results.
- Participation in a university club, student society, nonprofit or any community group.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a plus.
