What the internship is about

Rosebank International – a college that belongs to the Independent Institute of Education and the ADvTECH Group – is looking for two interns to work at its Braamfontein campus in Johannesburg. The role is all about helping the college attract new students, promote its courses, and keep good relationships with schools and future learners. If you enjoy talking to people, writing short messages, and planning small events, this internship will give you real‑world experience in the higher‑education sector.

Main duties you will do

  • Write and share short messages about the college on social media, emails, and the website.
  • Visit secondary schools and give simple talks about Rosebank College programmes.
  • Help organise and run open‑day interviews and Q&A sessions for prospective students.
  • Call interested students to answer questions and encourage them to apply.
  • Keep good contact with school counsellors and other important partners.
  • Update the student and school contact lists so everything stays accurate.
  • Support the planning of marketing events and campus visits.
  • Answer phone calls and emails from people who want to know more about the college.
  • Check that flyers, posters, and digital ads are ready when a campaign starts.
  • Follow the student recruitment plan and note what works best.
  • Keep a tidy record of all conversations, calls, and meetings.
  • Suggest ideas to make outreach and student engagement smoother.

What you need to have

  • A Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Communications, Marketing, or a similar field.
  • Any previous work or volunteer time in communications or marketing is a plus.
  • Good writing skills and the ability to speak clearly.
  • Friendly phone manners and confidence when talking to students and teachers.
  • Strong organisational habits and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to finish tasks on time and handle several things at once.
  • A customer‑service mindset that focuses on helping students feel welcomed.
  • Calmness under pressure, especially when targets need to be met.
  • Comfort working both in a team and on your own.
  • Basic knowledge of how South African higher education works (helpful but not required).
  • Flexibility to shift priorities as campaigns change.
