Kannaland Municipality Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Library Assistant Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 19 May 2026 (12:00 noon).
Who can apply?
You need to show proof of the following when you send in your application:
- Completed high school (Matric) and a basic understanding of library work.
- Up to one year of experience in a public library (or a similar setting).
- Ability to use a computer for simple tasks.
What you’ll be doing
The Library Assistant helps keep the library running smoothly. Your daily duties might include:
- Sweeping, mopping and keeping the reading rooms tidy.
- Sorting, shelving, repairing and cleaning books and other materials.
- Packing and delivering parcels or mail for the library.
- Depositing cash that comes in at the front desk.
- Assisting visitors with photocopying, using the internet, or finding supplies.
- Showing new visitors and school groups around, explaining the rules and layout.
- Helping students find books for projects, reading to kids during holiday programmes, and promoting library events.
- Answering phone calls and giving information to anyone who asks.
- Checking books and audio‑visual items in and out for members and non‑members.
- Carrying out any other reasonable tasks given by the supervisor.
