I & J Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Yes4Youth Programme Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 30 April 2026.

What the Yes4Youth Programme Is

The Yes4Youth programme at I & J, a part of AVI Limited, gives unemployed young people in Cape Town a chance to work for 12 months in a real seafood factory. The job is inside the Western Cape and focuses on manufacturing and operations. I & J has been making fish products like Cape Hake and farm‑grown Cape Abalone for more than a hundred years. This programme helps you learn on the job, pick up new skills and become more attractive to future employers.

Who Can Join

  • Aged 18 to 34 years
  • Completed at least Grade 10 (or Standard 8)
  • Unemployed when you apply
  • Have not taken part in the Yes4Youth programme before
  • Not enrolled in any government‑funded training course
  • Ready to sign a 12‑month contract

You will also need to agree to background and medical checks before you start.

Documents You Must Send

Make sure every paper you upload is clear, recent (no older than three months) and certified where required. Missing files will cause your application to be rejected.

  1. Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Certified copy of your South African ID
  3. Certified copy of your highest qualification
  4. SARS tax statement or tax clearance certificate
  5. Stamped bank statement or proof of a bank account

How the Selection Works

  1. Screening – We check your ID, qualifications and tax records.
  2. Criminal record check – A clean record is required.
  3. Medical exam – You will be examined at an I & J site.

Only candidates who pass all three steps will be offered a place in the programme.

Where You’ll Work

You will be placed at one of I & J’s operational sites around Cape Town. The environment is a busy production floor where you may see:

  • Fish processing and packaging
  • Warehouse and logistics support
  • Basic equipment operation

The job needs you to be on time, follow safety rules and be eager to learn.

Skills You’ll Gain

During the year you will pick up abilities that employers love:

  • Working well with a team and clear communication
  • Managing your time and staying disciplined
  • Understanding how a production line runs
  • Keeping yourself and others safe at work
  • Solving simple problems quickly
  • Adapting when things change fast

These skills are useful in many fields, such as manufacturing, retail, logistics and general operations.

Why This Programme Matters

Getting a spot in Yes4Youth means you get a real‑world job that looks good on a CV. It shows future employers that you can handle a structured work environment, follow instructions and stay reliable. The experience also builds confidence, which helps you interview for permanent positions later on.

Important Reminders

  • You must be unemployed when you apply.
  • If you have already taken part in Yes4Youth or any similar government‑funded scheme, you cannot apply again.
