Dis‑Chem Pharmacies invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Merchandiser vacancies at the Claremont store in Cape Town. The closing date for applications is 1 September 2026.

What the job is about

A Merchandiser at Dis‑Chem’s Claremont shop helps keep the store looking tidy, stocked and ready for shoppers. The role is permanent, full‑time and perfect for anyone who wants to start a career in retail or fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Day‑to‑day duties

  • Bring items from the storeroom onto the shop floor whenever shelves are getting low.
  • Put new stock in the correct spot and pack it neatly inside the allotted time.
  • Check dates on products; remove anything that is close to its sell‑by date.
  • Keep the whole range of items visible on the shelves, using the “first‑in‑first‑out” (FIFO) method to rotate stock.
  • Tell the manager when you spot low stock, damaged goods, missing barcodes or price errors.
  • Help count stock during inventory checks and fill out the paperwork.
  • Follow Dis‑Chem’s layout plans and visual guides so displays look the same every day.
  • Flatten empty boxes after unpacking and put them in the designated area.
  • Make sure price tags are correct, easy to read and match the product.
  • Stay up‑to‑date on new products that arrive in the store.
  • Build, face‑up and restock merchandising displays to attract shoppers.
  • Keep the store tidy, tidy up spills, and straighten up displays throughout the shift.
  • Load and unload deliveries, and move heavy boxes safely.
  • Mark items that do not have a barcode with a clear label.
  • Support new team members by showing them how things are done.
  • Answer customer questions politely, help them find items, and follow up on out‑of‑stock requests.
  • Wear the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
  • Follow all health‑and‑safety rules and Dis‑Chem’s internal policies.
