Dis‑Chem is looking for a part‑time Merchandiser to work at the La Lucia store in Umhlanga, KwaZulu‑Natal. As a Merchandiser you will keep the shop looking neat, make sure shelves are full, and give shoppers friendly, useful assistance.


What You’ll Do Every Day

  • Restock shelves as soon as items arrive so customers always find what they need.
  • Unpack deliveries, put products in the right places and flatten empty boxes for recycling.
  • Check dates on every product to make sure nothing past its sell‑by date stays on the floor.
  • Rotate stock using the first‑in‑first‑out (FIFO) method – older items go forward, newer ones go to the back.
  • Spot low stock, damaged or missing goods and tell the manager right away.
  • Help with stock counts and other inventory tasks when the store does a stocktake.
  • Follow Dis‑Chem’s planograms (the diagrams that show how items should be displayed).
  • Keep the shop tidy – shelves must be straight, labels clear and prices correct.
  • Answer customer questions about products, give advice and point them to the right aisle.
  • Report any pricing errors so they can be fixed quickly.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with new product launches and any changes to the range.
  • Assist with loading and unloading stock when the team needs an extra pair of hands.
  • Mark items without barcodes according to store procedures.
  • Help new team members learn the ropes, if asked.
