CivInnovate Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Engineering Apprenticeship Programme 2026 Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 24 August 2026.


What the Apprenticeship Is About

CivInnovate is looking for young people who want to learn about engineering and technology. The programme lasts 18 months and mixes classroom study with real‑world work experience. It is open in several provinces of South Africa: Gauteng, KwaZulu‑Natal, Western Cape, Northern Cape and Limpopo.

If you are chosen, you will receive a monthly allowance of R8 000 while you train on the job.


Engineering Fields You Can Choose

You can apply for a spot in any of the following areas:

  • Electrical Engineering – work with power systems, circuits and renewable energy.
  • Mechanical Engineering – learn about machines, engines and production lines.
  • Civil Engineering – help design and build roads, bridges and buildings.
  • Chemical Engineering – study how chemicals are turned into useful products.
  • Industrial Engineering – focus on making factories and processes run smoother.

Tip: Write the name of the field you want to study clearly on your CV.


Minimum Requirements to Join

  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, or
  • An N2 engineering qualification, or
  • An N3 engineering qualification.

These are the basic academic credentials needed to be considered.


Extra Training You May Need

If you have finished the following certificates, you are in a good position:

  • N4 certificate
  • N5 certificate
  • N6 certificate
  • S4 certificate

The qualification must match the engineering area you are applying for. Let the recruiters know if you still need workplace exposure to finish your study.

CivInnovate is looking for anyone who fits at least one of these descriptions:

  • Unemployed Grade 12 graduates who want a career in engineering.
  • People who already hold an N2 or N3 engineering qualification.
  • TVET College students who have completed N4–N6 courses.
  • University of Technology students who have finished S4.
  • Young adults who need practical, on‑the‑job training to finish their degree.
  • Anyone aged 18 – 40 who can work in one of the listed provinces.
