Caxton CTP needs a reliable Packer to join the team at its Cartons and Labels Factory in Epping, Cape Town. This is a permanent, full‑time job that focuses on packing, sorting and getting printed products ready for shipment. What the job is about
The Packer makes sure every product is packed the right way, labeled correctly and ready for delivery. You’ll work side‑by‑side with machine operators and supervisors to keep the line moving and hit daily targets. Daily tasks include checking items for any damage, keeping your work area clean and tidy, and handling stock carefully. You’ll also lend a hand with simple equipment checks and help keep the factory a safe place to work. Being steady, accurate and able to work quickly under pressure are key to success.
Main duties
- Pack cartons and labels exactly as the company’s guidelines say.
- Put the right labels and codes on each item so they can be tracked.
- Help machine operators with small tasks that keep production going.
- Look over each product for cracks, missing pieces or other quality problems before it’s boxed.
- Keep your station clean, organized and free from hazards.
- Move stock around and help with simple inventory counts.
- Follow all safety rules and factory policies.
- Clear tiny jams in machines and make sure the line stays on track.
- Reach the daily number of packed items set by the supervisor.
- Talk clearly with team members and supervisors about any issues.
- Lift and carry boxes safely when needed.
- Pitch in with other production duties as required.
What you need
- At least a Grade 10 education; having Grade 12 is a plus.
- Experience in a factory or production setting is helpful but not mandatory.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
- Sharp eye for detail and a habit of doing things correctly the first time.
- Basic math skills for counting and checking numbers.
- Ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
- Strong attendance record and a solid work ethic.
- Flexibility to work different shifts and occasional overtime.
- Basic understanding of safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
