About the Job

The level I Software Engineer plays a vital role in a cross-functional team dedicated to the full software development lifecycle. As a Back-end Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for writing and testing code for the development of server-side components that power the application’s functionality.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: A National Certificate / Vocational (Grade 12) and a relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology (ideal)
  • Experience: 1 year of proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery, and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language)
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with IT systems development processes (SDLC), application development, programming foundations, basic algorithms and data structures, version control, testing practices, unit testing, test-driven development, database systems, query optimization, RESTful API design, cloud computing platforms, microservice architectures, and deployment using kubernetes and containerisation
  • Skills: Analytical skills, attention to detail, communication skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills, and problem-solving skills
