About the Role:
As a Software Development Manager at Capitec Bank, you’ll be responsible for providing technical direction and overseeing the delivery of software products and services. Your primary goal will be to drive efficiency, innovation, and people development in the team. You’ll need to possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of technical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic technical direction and manage multiple technical teams responsible for the technical delivery of the full product lifecycle
- Oversee the ongoing drive to increase efficiency, optimisation, innovation, and people development in these environments
- Craft roadmaps and manage budgets to ensure successful project delivery
- Utilize technical skills to support and guide a technical team
- Establish priorities and successfully manage deliverables
- Engage with stakeholders and utilize communication and relationship management skills to influence and lead
- Lead by example and influence others through leadership and technical expertise
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development management
- Experience in leading and working in an agile development environment
- Ability to craft roadmaps, manage budgets, and utilize technical skills to support and guide a technical team
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Experience in utilizing project management principles and methodologies
- Functional knowledge particular to the product (e.g. Credit or App)
- People management and development practices and principles
- Stakeholder management
- Budgeting and accounting principles
- Business analysis and design
- Project Management principles and methodologies
Ideal Qualifications:
- Honours Degree in Commerce or Information Technology – Computer Science
- Experience in the banking industry, particularly in Central Collections and Capitec Bank Systems Environment
- Knowledge of Agile development principles and Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Familiarity with Capitec Bank’s business model and banking industry practices
