About the Role:

As an AML Compliance Officer at Capitec Bank, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the bank complies with regulatory obligations and laws related to financial services. Your primary responsibility will be to execute projects and tasks that support the bank’s compliance with regulatory requirements, while also advising the business on regulatory matters and managing regulatory risks.

Job Description:

• Execute projects and tasks to assist the bank in meeting its regulatory obligations and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Provide effective advice to the business on regulatory matters and risk management.
• Manage regulatory risks, identify and assess potential risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Assist the bank in meeting its regulatory obligations in relation to compliance and perform business processes within the relevant statutory requirements.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the regulatory environment, including SA Financial Services legislation, such as the National Payment Systems Act, Banks Act, Financial Sector Regulation Act (FSRA), Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
• Work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including IT, Business, and Executive Management, to achieve the goals of the Compliance team.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law or Accounting – Management Accounting (Minimum)
• Honours Degree in Law or Accounting – Management Accounting (Ideal)
• 3 years’ experience in Financial Services Compliance/Legal Advising
• Proven experience in stakeholder management and influence
• Strong knowledge of SA Financial Services legislation, including the National Payment Systems Act, Banks Act, Financial Sector Regulation Act (FSRA), Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
• Business analysis and design, financial systems, and procedures
• Strong communications, interpersonal, and influencing skills
• Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Ideal Qualifications:

• Holding responsibility for oversight of all regulations and Acts relating to a specific portfolio within financial services, such as insurance or credit.
• Experience of Capitec Bank products and services
• Regulatory environment (FIC, SARB) related to the specialist environment operating in
• Banking industry, payment systems
