SPAR North Rand, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd, is recruiting for a Buyer (Build It) at its Distribution Centre, located in Olifantsfontein.
Duties & Responsibilities
PURPOSE:
To facilitate the effective management management of the categories 3&4 . and also responsible for building strategic partnerships with key regional suppliers to deliver competitive trade terms and category market share in the region in Plumbware, Electrical, Rainwater Goods, Garden and Outdoor (Category 4) and Hardware & General, Tools, Wall & Floor, Decorative (category 3) in Build It.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Improve loyalty of retailers in conjunction with ROMs
- Manage organic growth for retailers
- Manage supply chain and conduct regular meetings with regional and national suppliers
- Manage Retailer Supplier Trade Agreements with approval from Central office
- Manage all promotional deals and pricing of promotions in the region.
- Negotiate and achieve budgeted dropshipment and retail gross profits
- Effectively launch house brand products at retail including point-of-sale and stands.
- Offer leadership and advice to retailers in respect of category related issues
- Drive DC loyalty in terms of monitoring sales and new products
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric – Mandatory
- National certificate / Diploma in, Marketing Management or similar – required
- Relevant Diploma or Degree – Recommended
- 3-5 years buying experience in Hardware Retail environment: specific Plumbware, Electrical, Rainwater Goods, Garden and Outdoor (Category 4) and Hardware & General, Tools, Wall & Floor, Decorative (category 3) in Build It.
- 3-5 years’ experience in-store retail management experience – mandatory
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Team worker who can also work independently
- A high degree of confidentiality, emotional maturity, ethical values and integrity
- Outstanding supplier partnership skills and strong customer orientation
- Excellent co-ordination and team skills to support effective execution and market share growth.
- Has proven problem-solving capability in a fast-moving and dynamic setting, applying good judgment and responsiveness to emergent. challenges
- Strong negotiation skills
- Sound business and financial acumen
- Quality orientated and self-driven to achieve results
