Key Responsibilities of a Ramp Agent


Here’s what you’ll be doing on a daily basis:

  • Safety First: Safeguard aircraft and equipment to ensure safe aircraft turnaround.
  • Service Monitoring: Monitor and enforce vendor compliance with safety, service, and operational standards.
  • Customer Service: Assist with passenger boarding, special needs (WCHR/PAU), and customer inquiries.
  • Loading & Offloading: Coordinate baggage loading/unloading and ensure all service instructions are followed.
  • Inspection & Reporting: Check and report on aircraft equipment, cabin cleanliness, and defective equipment.
  • Compliance & Support: Support the on-time performance of flights, check supplier readiness, and enforce safety protocols.
  • Communication: Liaise with internal departments, technical teams, and flight crew to ensure operational excellence.
  • Technical Tasks: Assist with safe engine start-up, push-back coordination, and ground equipment operation.

What You Need to Apply

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

Education:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with a pass in Mathematics (advantageous)
  • A 3-year Diploma or relevant NQF Level 6 qualification (preferred)


Experience & Certification:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in an airline operational environment
  • Current certification in Ground to Flight Deck Communication (Headset), Aircraft Weight & Balance, and Dangerous Goods (Group C)
  • Knowledge of Passenger Handling and Aircraft Ground Operations
  • Valid Driver’s License (Code 8 or higher)
