What the job is about
This is a 12‑month fixed‑term programme that gives young South Africans a real taste of working in a busy retail store. Main duties you will do
- Greet shoppers and answer their questions about products.
- Help the sales team with everyday tasks such as ringing up purchases.

- Keep the shop looking neat, clean and attractive for customers.
- Set up product displays and change them when needed.
- Use the cash register and other point‑of‑sale tools while being supervised.
- Follow all store rules, health and safety procedures.

- Learn how the store’s computer systems work and how to give good service.
- Work together with teammates during peak trading periods.

Who can apply
- Age between 18 and 28 years.
- Matriculation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Not currently on a permanent contract that is longer than 12 months with any employer.
- Not studying full‑time while on the programme.
- Must not have already finished the YES Youth Opportunity programme.
- Ready to sign a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
- Able to work in a retail environment and handle basic maths and reading tasks.
- Good communicator who likes learning new things.
- Team‑player with a friendly and positive attitude.
- Willing to follow instructions and store policies.
- Focused on helping customers and making their visit enjoyable.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work weekends and normal retail hours.
