Transnet Invites qualified applicants to apply for its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme. The closing date for applications is 11 August 2026.
What the WIL Programme is about
Transnet is giving South African students a chance to work while they learn. The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme lets you take what you study in school and use it in a real‑world job setting.
- You will spend 12 months getting hands‑on experience.
- Each placement includes mentorship from experienced staff.
- You will work on tasks that are common in the industry you chose, helping you become job‑ready.
Who can join
The programme is open to:
- Students who are currently studying at a university, college or TVET institute.
- Recent graduates who have finished their studies within the last year.
- Anyone who can show proof of South African citizenship and a valid ID.
Fields you can study
You can choose a placement that matches one of the following study areas:
- Engineering (including Mechanical, Electronics and General Engineering)
- Information Technology (IT)
- Communication & Public Relations
- Hospitality
- Any other eligible engineering discipline listed by Transnet
Documents you must submit
To be considered, you need to upload the following files:
- A current Curriculum Vitae (CV) that lists your education, any work experience and extra‑curricular activities.
- A certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate (or equivalent).
- A certified copy of your university/college results or qualification letters.
- A stamped letter from your school asking for in‑service training (only if your institution requires it).
- A certified copy of your South African ID document.
- Proof of where you live – a recent utility bill, bank statement or lease agreement will do.
