What you will do every day
The role is built around helping the cinema run smoothly. Your tasks will change depending on what the team needs, but you can expect to:
- Work at the box office, catering counter or cash desk and take payments from guests.
- Serve customers as a cinema assistant, waiter or popcorn maker.
- Know the latest Ster‑Kinekor movies, offers and promotions so you can suggest extras to guests.
- Keep all display boards, posters and age‑restriction signs tidy and up‑to‑date.
- Make popcorn, soft drinks, slushes and other snacks exactly the way the brand expects.
- Report any problems – like a broken machine or a spill – right away.
- Help set up the theatre before each shift and clean up afterwards.
- Make sure the kitchen, counters and storage rooms stay neat and organized.
- Follow health‑and‑safety rules and fill in the required reports.
- Wear the correct uniform and follow safety guidelines to protect yourself, coworkers and guests.
- Do any extra tasks your supervisor asks for, such as restocking items or checking ticket machines.
What we are looking for
- Matric certificate (or equivalent).
- 0‑1 year of experience in customer service, retail or hospitality – fresh graduates are welcome.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel or similar programs.
- Familiarity with VISTA or MYCC systems is a plus, but not required.
- Good spoken and written English; being able to explain things clearly is key.
- Friendly attitude and the ability to get along with guests and teammates.
- Organised and able to keep track of daily tasks.
- Willingness to learn new skills and switch between different duties.
- Attention to cleanliness, presentation and the quality of food and service.
