Ster‑Kinekor Theatres Pty Ltd invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Multi‑Skilled Employee vacancies at the Bayside cinema in Cape Town, Western Cape. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2026.


What the job is all about

You will be part of the team that makes a movie night smooth and fun for everyone. The role is a fixed‑term contract and covers several areas inside the cinema:

  • Selling tickets at the box office
  • Taking orders and serving food and drinks
  • Helping guests find their seats and keeping the lobby tidy
  • Making popcorn, nachos, slush drinks and other snacks

Because you will move between these tasks, you will get a good feel for how a cinema works behind the scenes.


Daily duties you’ll handle

  • Ticket & food sales – Use the computer system to sell tickets and refreshments quickly and accurately.
  • Food preparation – Follow recipes to pop popcorn, serve nachos, pour soft drinks and make slushies that look and taste great.
  • Cleanliness – Wipe down counters, keep the kitchen area neat, and make sure the public spaces are tidy.
  • Display work – Set up movie posters, promotional signs and snack displays so they look attractive.
  • Safety & hygiene – Follow food‑safety rules, store items properly and wear the required uniform and grooming standards.
  • Customer service – Greet guests with a smile, answer questions, suggest add‑ons like extra popcorn or a drink, and solve small problems before they become big ones.
  • Team support – Help the shift supervisor with opening or closing tasks, stock supplies and report any issues you see.

Who we are looking for

Requirement Why it matters
Matric (Grade 12) Shows you have finished school and can handle basic reading and writing.
0–1 year experience in retail, hospitality or a cinema Any short‑term work in a shop, café or movie house helps you get the hang of fast service.
Basic computer skills (MS Office or similar) You’ll need to type orders and check sales numbers.
Familiarity with VISTA or MYCC (optional) These are the systems we use for tickets and food sales; knowing them is a plus.
Good communication – you can speak clearly and write short notes.
Attention to detail – you notice if popcorn is burnt or a poster is crooked.
Team player – you work well with others and help when things get busy.
Flexible schedule – you’re ready to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Professional look – neat uniform and a friendly attitude.
