The Sasol Foundation is now taking applications for the 2027 Bursary Programme. The offer is open to students who live in the communities around Sasol sites, children of Sasol staff, and children of Sasol Khanyisa shareholders.
STEM Bursaries
If you want to study a subject that falls under Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics, this bursary could help you. Sasol is looking for candidates who plan to do a full‑time undergraduate degree in fields that support the future economy, such as:
- Engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, etc.)
- Information Technology and computer programming
- Data Science and analytics
- Agricultural Science
- Environmental Science
- Medical and health‑related studies
- Construction, Manufacturing and related trades
Note: Post‑graduate scholarships are not available for the upcoming academic year.
Non‑STEM Bursaries
These awards are reserved only for eligible students from the fence‑line communities, children of Sasol employees, and children of Sasol Khanyisa shareholders who wish to study non‑STEM subjects.

Who Can Apply?
- South African citizens by birth only.
- Students must be enrolled full‑time at an approved public university or university of technology in South Africa.
Main Requirements
- South African citizenship (by birth).
- Proof of household income – the total must not be higher than R800 000 per year.
- For non‑STEM awards, you must be from a fence‑line community, a Sasol employee’s child, or a Khanyisa shareholder’s child.
- Strong school results – at least a 60 % average for all subjects if you are already in university.
- Must be applying for your first undergraduate degree.
- Age limit – you cannot be older than 25 years when you submit the application.
- Matriculation – you must have completed Grade 12 within the last year, or be finishing it this year if you plan to start university in your first year.
