Who Can Apply?
To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or a National Certificate (Vocational) at NQF level 4.
- PSIRA Registration: Must be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority.
- Security Certification: Possess at least a Grade C security certificate.
- Firearm Eligibility: Must not be declared unfit to own a firearm.
- Advantageous Qualifications: A Diploma/Degree in security or related courses, and a valid driver’s license (light motor vehicle).
- Work Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts and extended hours is essential.
What Will You Do?
As a Security Guard, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing Access Control: Enforcing the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.
- Verifying Identity: Positive identification of officers, employees, visitors, and contractors before allowing access.
- Issuing Access Cards: Handing out and collecting visitor passes and maintaining registers.
- Ensuring Premises Safety: Checking suppliers, articles, and objects for security threats.
- Overseeing Vehicles and Equipment: Controlling vehicle and equipment access.
- Supervising Personnel: Monitoring cleaners and maintenance staff from a security perspective.
- Checking Security Facilities: Inspecting equipment and reporting issues to senior security personnel.
- Assisting Security Offices: Supporting colleagues in daily tasks.
