RCL Foods is looking for an enthusiastic, customer‑focused Sales Representative to join the baking division in Durban. The role is all about making sure our products get to the right places on time, helping drivers work smarter, and keeping our customers happy. If you have a strong sales background, a valid Code 10 driver’s licence, and a passion for meeting people, this could be the perfect job for you.


Who Can Apply?

  • Education: You must have completed Matric.
  • Driving: A valid Code 10 driver’s licence, a personal development plan (PDP), and your own car are required.

Experience You’ll Need

  • Sales background: 3–5 years of experience in any sales role.
  • Driving sales: Experience as a driver‑salesperson is a big plus but not mandatory.

What You’ll Do Every Day

  1. Move Products Efficiently

    • Guide driver teams to follow the best routes that have already been planned.
    • Make sure every new and existing customer is entered into the GPS system.
    • Organise orders so that trucks are filled up as much as possible, improving the number of loaves delivered per kilometre.
  2. Keep Orders Balanced

    • Check daily which orders have been placed, delivered, or returned.
    • Track returns from informal‑trade customers and create action plans to cut down on returns.
  3. Report Sales Numbers

    • Send in daily sales figures from each driver.
    • Compare driver sales against set targets and share key market information.
    • Suggest steps to beat competitors and boost performance.
  4. Maintain Accurate Customer Data

    • Ensure all customer details are correctly entered for new accounts and updated for existing ones.
  5. Lead Driver & Van Assistant Teams

    • Train, mentor, and, when needed, discipline drivers and assistants to achieve sales excellence.
    • Use a smart route‑riding system so that every customer is visited each month.
    • Identify performance gaps and provide on‑the‑job coaching.
  6. Watch Trade Prices

    • Conduct weekly price checks for informal‑trade customers.
    • Follow RCL Foods’ pricing policies and help implement the right pricing strategy.
  7. Build Strong Customer Relationships

    • Grow sales volume and market share in general‑trade stores.
    • Work with the Informal Sales Representative to win new business.
    • Resolve customer complaints quickly and professionally.
    • Keep product displays in line with company standards.
    • Support the Informal Sales Representative with route optimisation.
    • Act as the bridge between customers and drivers for smooth product delivery.
    • Share valuable market insights and handle regular customer service needs.
