Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Invites qualified South African students to apply for its 2027 Bursary Scheme. The closing date for applications is 30 September 2026.
What the IDC Bursary Covers
The IDC External Bursary is meant for South African citizens who are currently unemployed and need financial help to study full‑time. It can be used for a first‑degree (undergraduate) programme only. Post‑graduate study is not funded unless the course is in Law, Accounting (CA), Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics.

Who Can Apply

Documents You Must Submit
- Valid ID – a copy issued no more than three months before you apply.
- Proof of academic results – 2026 mid‑year (first semester) results, or the latest results if you are not studying this year. For Matric students, use Grade 11 results and the June 2026 results.
- Matric certificate – if you have already finished Matric.
- Proof of household income – one of the following:
- Recent payslip(s) if parents are employed.
- Bank statements covering the last three months for both employed parents.
- Affidavit stating annual income if parents are unemployed.
- Six‑month bank statements if parents are self‑employed.
- SASSA grant letters (if applicable).
- Death certificates for any deceased parent.
- Certified copies of both parents’ IDs.
- Divorce certificate or a sworn statement from the custodial parent if parents are separated.
- Proof of residence – a recent (no older than three months) utility bill or similar document.
