Icebolethu Group is looking for energetic Field Agents to work in Idutywa, Butterworth, Centane, Willowvale and Tsomo. The role will focus on finding new customers, making cold calls and selling Icebolethu’s funeral‑assurance products. What the job is about
A Field Agent acts as the face of Icebolethu Group in the community. The everyday tasks include:
- Making outbound calls to potential clients.
- Explaining the benefits of funeral‑assurance policies.
- Listening to customer questions and giving clear answers.
- Keeping accurate records of every conversation.
- Working towards monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Following the rules set by the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).
Minimum education needed
- Matric (Grade 12) – this is the basic requirement.
- A college or university qualification is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Having a RE1 or RE5 certification is an advantage.
Experience and know‑how
- 1‑2 years of experience in sales, customer service or any field‑work role.
- Experience in the funeral‑assurance, insurance or broader financial‑service sector is preferred.
- Comfortable using a computer – Word, Excel and Outlook are essential tools.
- A clean credit history and no criminal record will be checked during the short‑listing stage.
Skills you should bring
- Ability to close a sale and also suggest additional products (cross‑selling and upselling).
- Strong spoken and written communication – you must be able to explain complex ideas in simple terms.
- Friendly, customer‑focused attitude and the ability to build trust quickly.
- Good negotiation skills and the knack for handling disputes calmly.
- Honesty, reliability and a strong sense of ethics.
- Ability to work on your own, make decisions and stay organized.
- Fluency in at least three of the official languages spoken in the province (for example, isiXhosa, English and Afrikaans).
Main duties and performance goals
- Promote and sell funeral‑assurance policies to new and existing customers.
- Provide top‑notch service that keeps clients happy and loyal.
- Answer client queries promptly and settle complaints within agreed timeframes.
- Carry out retention activities – call clients to keep their policies active or suggest better options.
- Keep client files up‑to‑date and follow all administrative procedures.
- Follow all legal and regulatory requirements (FAIS, FSCA).
- Meet or exceed the sales numbers set for each month and quarter.
- Negotiate contract renewals and persuade clients to retain their policies.
