Gold One Group Limited invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the Control Room Key Controller vacancy. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2026.

What the job is about

The Control Room Key Controller works in the underground mine at Modder East, Springs, Gauteng. It is a full‑time, permanent role in the logistics and mining‑support team. The main aim is to keep all keys safe, tracked and handed out only to people who are allowed to use them. The job needs a person who pays close attention to details, follows rules, and can stay focused in a busy control‑room setting. Good key control helps keep the mine safe and running smoothly.

Daily duties

  • Hand out and collect keys exactly as the written procedures say.
  • Keep an up‑to‑date key register and logbook.
  • Record every key movement the moment it happens.
  • Check that the right permission is given before any key leaves the room.
  • Report lost, broken or missing keys straight away.
  • Do regular checks and count‑ups of all keys.
  • Store keys in the locked cabinet at all times.
  • Help out with other control‑room tasks when asked.

Every mistake can affect safety, so being accurate is very important.

Working with the control‑room team

The controller works hand‑in‑hand with other control‑room staff and with supervisors from different mine departments. Tasks include:

  • Watching key access for all parts of the mine.
  • Talking with supervisors to confirm who can get a key.
  • Helping with incident reports when a key problem occurs.
  • Making sure all internal security rules are followed.
  • Keeping strict limits on who can enter restricted zones.

Paperwork and admin work

A big part of the role is paperwork. All key actions must be written clearly and stored safely. Admin duties are:

  • Updating the key register and control logs every shift.
  • Filing all paperwork so it can be found quickly.
  • Checking that records are correct and complete.
  • Assisting auditors during compliance checks.
  • Keeping proper documents for every key transaction.

Attention to detail stops errors and protects the mine from security risks.

Safety and rules

Gold One follows the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and its own safety policies. The controller must:

  • Follow all MHSA regulations without exception.
  • Stick to company safety rules for every task.
  • Keep all keys in a secure place at all times.
  • Report any safety or security danger instantly.
  • Support the company’s goal of safe work practices on every shift.

Safety is not optional – it is required for every hour on the job.

Work schedule and environment

The job is based in a control‑room inside the mine. Shifts rotate, so you may work:

  • Nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • A high‑security area where only authorised people can enter.
  • Periods of heavy activity that need quick thinking.
  • Continuous monitoring and paperwork while the mine operates.

Being on time and reliable is a must.

Skills and qualities you need

  • Basic computer skills (MS Office is enough).
  • Good spoken and written communication.
  • Ability to follow step‑by‑step instructions.
  • High honesty and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to work alone and also as part of a team.
  • Good organisational habits.

Having worked in a control room or done similar admin work before is a plus, but not required.

  • South African citizen.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Willingness to work shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
