Dis‑Chem Pharmacies Limited invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Frontshop Assistant vacancies at Westown Square, Durban, KwaZulu‑Natal. The closing date for applications is 11 November 2026.

About the role

The Frontshop Assistant works on the sales floor of a Dis‑Chem store. The job is permanent and full‑time. It is perfect for anyone who enjoys helping people, keeping shelves tidy, and making sure the shop looks neat and inviting. You will be part of a team that follows Dis‑Chem’s rules for product displays, stock control, and customer service.

What you will do every day

  • Set up the shelves: Put products on the right shelves, arrange them neatly, and make sure labels and prices match.
  • Restock items: When the shelves run low, take new stock from the back room and fill the gaps so customers can always find what they need.
  • Check dates: Look at expiry dates on food, medicine and other items. Remove anything that is past its sell‑by date or looks damaged.
  • Rotate stock: Move older items to the front so they sell first and keep the inventory accurate.
  • Answer “out‑of‑stock” questions: If a customer asks for a product that isn’t on the shelves, log the request and follow up until it’s found.
  • Receive deliveries: Unpack boxes, check that everything is correct, and place the items in the proper spots.
  • Keep the store clean: Sweep the floor, wipe shelves, and make sure the back‑room is tidy.
  • Report problems: Tell your supervisor if you see low stock, broken items, or pricing mistakes.
  • Help with stock‑takes: Count items during inventory checks and note any differences.
  • Load and unload trucks: Move boxes carefully when stock arrives or leaves the store.
  • Assist customers: Greet shoppers, answer questions, and give friendly advice about products.
  • Stay updated on products: Learn about new items, promotions, and health information so you can help customers make good choices.
  • Handle money: Take cash, card, voucher or coupon payments, give the correct change, and follow the cash‑handling rules.
  • Process returns and exchanges: Swap out items or accept returns only when your supervisor agrees.
  • Run loyalty programs: Register customers for loyalty cards and apply any discounts they earn.
  • Follow safety rules: Wear the correct uniform, use safe lifting techniques, and follow all health‑and‑safety guidelines.
  • Support teammates: Share knowledge, help train new staff, and pitch in where needed.
