Dis‑Chem Pharmacies Limited invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Receiving Clerk vacancies. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2026.

What the job is about

The Receiving Clerk works at the Dis‑Chem store in Market Square, Plettenberg Bay. It is a permanent, full‑time role in a busy pharmacy shop. The main goal is to make sure every delivery that arrives at the store is checked, recorded correctly, and put away where it belongs. Good record‑keeping helps the store keep the right amount of stock on the shelves, so customers can find what they need when they need it.

What you will do every day

  • Scan each item that comes in and add it to the store’s computer system.
  • Compare the delivery list with the supplier’s invoice to make sure the numbers match.
  • Look at each box or bottle for damage, missing pieces, or wrong products.
  • Handle returns for broken or wrongly shipped goods and fill out credit notes.
  • Count stock accurately, noting the quantity, type and condition.
  • Log any claims with the warehouse and help the Receiving Manager sort them out.
  • Move the new stock to the shop floor on the same day it arrives.
  • Keep the receiving and storage area clean and tidy.
  • Work with suppliers to fix any mismatches or missing items.
  • Help rotate stock so older items are sold first and waste is reduced.
  • Follow all company procedures and safety rules, especially for high‑value or high‑risk items.

What you need to have

  • Completed Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Basic skills with a computer and the ability to work with numbers.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes heavier than 20 kg.
  • Good eye for detail and strong organisational habits.
  • Ability to speak and write English clearly.
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to stay calm and work fast when the store is busy.
  • Experience with stock receiving or retail inventory is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of stock rotation methods is helpful.
  • South African citizenship with a clean credit and criminal record.
  • Reliable transport or the ability to commute to the Plettenberg Bay store.

What it’s like to work there

The shop moves quickly, so you’ll need to be disciplined and follow the set steps for every delivery. Getting the details right helps the whole store run smoothly and keeps customers happy. You’ll be part of a team that values accuracy, speed, and good communication.

Benefits you’ll receive

  • Salary that matches market rates for similar roles.
  • Medical aid coverage.
  • Provident fund to help you save for the future.
  • Staff‑discount account for products sold in the store.
  • The chance to work for one of South Africa’s leading pharmacy retail groups.
