What the Warehouse Picker Does
- Use a hand‑held scanner and a picking list to collect the right items in the right amounts.
- Double‑check each item on the scanner to be sure the product code and quantity match the order.
- Follow the set picking steps when taking goods from the shelves to avoid mistakes.
- Look at every product while picking to confirm it is clean, undamaged, and not past its expiry date.
- Tell the Outbound Supervisor right away if something is broken, missing, or out of stock.
- Restock the fine‑pick shelves when they get low, following tasks generated by the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Help pack the orders using the scanner system when needed, making sure everything is prepared correctly for shipping.
- Take part in regular stock counts (mid‑year, ad‑hoc, and yearly) and record the numbers accurately.
- Keep bulk boxes stacked in the right order so older items are at the front and can be taken first.
- Keep the warehouse area tidy, neat, and safe for everyone.
- Assist with receiving new shipments: unpack, sort, check barcodes, spot any damage, and note expiry dates before entering the info into the WMS.
- Store incoming goods in the correct spot in the Bulk Receiving Area and make sure they are logged for easy tracking.
- Report any stock problems or mismatches to a supervisor right away.
- Work together with team members and supervisors to meet daily distribution goals.
Who Can Apply
- Must have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- No prior warehouse experience needed; full training will be provided.
- Good basic maths skills for counting and checking quantities.
- Strong reading skills to understand written instructions and picking lists.
- Ability to speak and write English well.
- Attention to detail when checking product labels, expiry dates, and condition.
- Willingness to learn how the hand scanner and WMS work.
