Job Description:
As a Software Engineer – Back-End (Cobol) West at Capitec Bank, you will play a crucial role in building solutions that offer optimum performance, reliability, and scale. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software systems and applications based on specifications, while adhering to established standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software systems and applications based on specifications, while adhering to established standards.
- Translate requirements from the business or technical analyst and actively participate with the delivery team in design and problem-solving.
- Develop and maintain back-end systems using Cobol, SQL, Shell Scripting (Linux), and various C family languages (C, C#, C++).
- Successfully execute projects involving Kafka, containerisation, cloud environments, and operating system upgrades, ensuring seamless integration and performance optimisation.
Requirements:
- Education (Minimum): Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
- Education (Ideal or Preferred): A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology
- Experience: 3+ years’ proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery, and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language)
