Job Summary: Business Engineer

As a Business Engineer at Capitec Bank, you will play a critical role in supporting the vision and strategy of the organization by developing and implementing business process architecture solutions and requirements. You will work closely with various business units to translate business needs into business requirements for developing and buying IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business needs into business requirements for developing and buying IT systems
  • Provide business process architecture and requirements at the enterprise level for various Capitec business units
  • Support new revenue growth initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement post-implementation of projects to track achievement of business benefits and deliver on strategic/business level objectives
  • Develop change management plans, project plans, and design policies/procedures/performance measures
  • Accountable for implementation and the quality thereof

Requirements:

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering – General or Similar
  • Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • A relevant post-graduate qualification in Engineering – General or Information Technology
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration

Experience

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ proven experience in complex analytical Business Design, Development, Improvement initiatives and/or Product Design
  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies / Theory of Constraints (TOC)
  • Engineering background
  • Ideal candidates will have:
    • 10 years’ complex analytical Business Design, Development, Improvement initiatives and/or Product Design
    • Familiarity with Agile way of working
    • Translating company strategies and objectives into initiatives and/or projects
    • Initiation and implementation of projects to improve performance through business process improvements, revenue growth initiatives, and continuous improvement capability

    • Functional skills: Business Process Modelling skills (iDEF-0, Financial Modelling, Enterprise Architect, BPMN, etc.)
    • Process Simulation Modelling
    • Systems Thinking skills
    • Client Journey Mapping / client experience

    • Business Change Life Cycle and Change Management principles
    • System Development Life Cycle
    • Project Management Lifecycle and methodologies
