Boxer Superstores, a rapidly growing retail leader, is embarking on a significant milestone in our journey – an Initial Public Offering (IPO). As part of this transformation, we are establishing a new department of legal experts and seeking an exceptional individual to lead this team. We are looking for a dynamic, experienced, and highly skilled attorney to join our team as the Head of Legal.
Position Overview:
The Head of Legal will play a crucial role in supporting the business through the IPO process and beyond. This role includes the added responsibility of serving as the Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards. The ideal candidate will be a qualified attorney with an LLB degree and extensive experience in corporate law and governance, with a significant focus on property-related legal work.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- LLB degree from a recognized institution.
- Admitted attorney with a valid practicing certificate.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with significant experience in corporate law and governance, and property-related legal issues.
- Proven track record of successfully managing legal teams.
- Extensive experience with IPO processes and requirements.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance standards and practices, including adherence to King IV principles.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
- Significant experience in property-related legal work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Establish and lead the new Legal Department.
- Manage and mentor a team of legal professionals.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to support the company’s business objectives.
- IPO Support:
- Provide legal guidance and support throughout the IPO process.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to the IPO.
- Liaise with external legal advisors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Corporate Governance:
- Serve as the Company Secretary, ensuring the company adheres to best practices in corporate governance.
- Maintain and update corporate records, including minutes of board meetings and shareholder meetings.
- Advise the board of directors on corporate governance matters.
- Adhere to best practice and King IV principles.
- Legal Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
- Monitor changes in legislation and advise on necessary actions.
- Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Ensure all contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage contract disputes and litigation.
- Advisory:
- Provide legal advice to senior management and other departments.
- Support various business units with legal matters, with a significant focus on property-related legal issues.

DC Senior Warehouse Manager

Boxer Superstores Distribution Centre in Cape Town is seeking a dynamic and skilled Senior Warehouse Manager to oversee the efficient and effective management of our inbound and outbound storage and distribution processes. Role Purpose:
To efficiently and effectively manage the inbound and outbound storage, and distribution of stock within the supply chain to the geographical customer base serviced by the distribution centre, ensuring a supply of stock on time in full whilst delivering excellent customer service within a set budget.
Minimum Requirements
- A 3-year Suppy Chain degree.
- Accounting diploma would be an added advantage
- 10-15 years of experience in a warehouse/logistics environment, with a minimum of 5 years managing a large warehouse as a Warehouse Manager or DC Manager.
- Proven ability to manage a large team of staff.
- Proficiency in reading, understanding, and influencing a PnL.
- Expertise in WMS systems with RF scanning.
- 5 years of continuous improvement experience.
- Ability to operate in a pressurized environment and demonstrate strong operational skills.

- Finance & PnL Management
- Contain costs within budget.
- Ensure financial controls are monitored.
- Validate and process invoices and POs timely.
- Manage and maintain Live PnL and generate weekly PnL and KPI reports.
- Oversee month-end processing and close-out.
- DC Layout Standards, Procedures & Transport Costs
- Collaborate with HOD Logistics to manage controllable expenses.
- Work on transport and WMS expenses with HOD Logistics.
- Ensure the DC has an optimal layout for stock flow.
- Overseeing WMS
- Partner with HOD Warehouse/Logistics & Transport Planning Manager to ensure WMS functionality and service delivery.
- Managing Inbound, Put Away, Replenishment Picking, and Dispatch
- Oversee daily DC operations.
- Supervise all DC managers and supervisors.
- Conduct daily meetings with department managers/supervisors to review KPI targets and set daily plans.
- Perform weekly consolidated reviews of all areas.
- Equipment Maintenance & Management
- Check and sign off service and maintenance schedules.
- Review incident reports and take appropriate action.
- Assess maintenance costs and implement necessary actions.
- Communication
- Manage daily emails and help desk reviews.
- Ensure effective communication with stores and Head Office.
- Conduct morning and afternoon meetings.
- Management of KPIs
- Continuously review and manage floor operations.
- Identify and address issues promptly.
- Conduct daily and weekly KPI review meetings.
- Warehousing Policies and Procedures
- Review and maintain existing policies, procedures, and standards.
- Health and Safety
- Ensure audits are conducted and signed off daily by the facility manager.
- Perform periodic checks on racking, transport areas, machinery, and loading/receiving areas.
- Pallet Management
- Work with HOD Warehouse/Logistics to manage the Chep process.
- Ensure accurate in-and-out pallet tracking and reconciliation.
- Security
- Sign off guard schedules and review security costs.
- Maintain and assess camera and security equipment.
- Staff Management
- Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate staff.

As an Admin Controller, you will be responsible for the financial and administrative support to the DC.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in financial control or similar roles.
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Microsoft Office suite, BommSystem, and analytical tools.

- Returns Handling: Sort returned items by supplier, segregate goods by condition (good stock vs. damaged), manage donations according to supervisor authorization, and discard write-offs as per management guidelines.
- Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area, adhering to hazard-free standards to prevent incidents.
