Where the job is based

The Contact Centre Agent will work at the Peninsula Quarry site and will report directly to the Contact Centre Team Leader.


What the Contact Centre Agent will do

The person hired for this role will spend the day talking with customers, answering questions and fixing problems. Main duties include:

  • Giving friendly and helpful service to every caller.
  • Following the call‑centre rules that make sure calls are handled fast and correctly.
  • Typing information into the computer without mistakes.
  • Answering questions about prices, orders and delivery times.
  • Working closely with Territory Sales Managers so that sales targets are reached.
  • Making sure trucks are booked the right way and that delivery schedules are accurate.

In simple terms, the agent becomes the voice of AfriSam for anyone who calls for help.


What you need to have

AfriSam looks for people who can show up ready to learn and work well with others. The minimum requirements are:

  • Finished Grade 12, an Amended Senior Certificate, a National Certificate Vocational Level 5, or a Technical Matric (N3) with at least four technical subjects and two official languages.
  • A certificate in call‑centre practices is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Any previous work in a call centre or a customer‑facing role helps, especially if it was with cement or construction products.
  • Basic computer skills – you should know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and, if possible, SAP.
  • A professional attitude and good personal presentation.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to talk with customers at any level, from a worker on site to a manager in an office.
  • Good planning and organization, so you can keep track of many calls and tasks at once.
