Who Can Apply
You are eligible if you meet all of the following conditions:
- You are in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or you already hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field.
- You are a citizen of any African Union member country.
- You are a full‑time student (final‑year undergrad) or a recent graduate.
- You can speak at least one of the AU’s working languages – English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese.
- You are 32 years old or younger when the selection is made.
- You have a clean record of good moral conduct and have not been convicted of a serious crime (minor traffic tickets are fine).
Previous work experience is not required – the AU wants fresh talent with the right attitude.
What the Internship Covers
- No salary – you will need to pay for travel, accommodation, and daily living costs.
- The AU will try to help you obtain a visa and residence permit, but the final responsibility lies with you.
- The internship lasts three months and can be extended once, for a total of up to six months.
- You must have your own health insurance for the whole period; the AU does not provide medical travel or evacuation coverage.
