This is a full‑time, permanent role that suits anyone who enjoys helping people pick the right tools, machines or equipment. If you have worked in a hardware store, an automotive shop, an engineering firm, or any business that sells tools and machinery, this could be the perfect job for you.
What the job is about
As a Counter Sales Consultant you will be the first person customers see when they walk into the store. Your main tasks will be:

- Reaching the sales targets set for the branch.
- Keeping the shelves stocked and tidy.
- Helping with everyday admin work, such as paperwork and filing.
- Making sure the store always looks clean, organized and welcoming.
You will need to know a lot about the products you sell, talk well with customers, and stay calm when the shop gets busy.
Day‑to‑day duties
- Talk to shoppers and help them choose the right tool or machine for the job.
- Always deliver polite and helpful service.
- Meet or beat the sales numbers that the branch aims for.
- Check stock levels and let the team know when items need to be reordered.
- Help with office chores like answering phones, filing receipts and updating computer records.
- Follow the store’s rules and the company’s policies.
- Keep learning about new products so you can give the best advice.
- Arrange displays and refill shelves when items run low.
- Represent the company in a positive way and encourage a team spirit.
- Keep the shop neat, safe and attractive for customers.
- Step in to support other staff members when needed.
- Work on improving your sales techniques and product knowledge every day.
What you need to bring
- A senior certificate (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification.
- Your own reliable vehicle – you’ll need it to get to work and possibly for deliveries.
- Previous experience in automotive, engineering, hardware, or any tools‑and‑machinery setting is a big plus.
- Familiarity with retail procedures and stock control helps a lot.
- Basic technical knowledge about DIY, hardware or machinery is useful.
- Strong sales instincts and a genuine desire to help customers.
- Good speaking and listening skills.
- Honesty, reliability and a professional attitude.
- Ability to stay organized and handle paperwork efficiently.
- Comfort working alone or as part of a team.
- Problem‑solving skills and good judgment.
- A willingness to keep learning about new products and sales tactics.
Working hours
- Monday – Friday: 08:00 to 17:00
- Saturday: 08:00 to 13:00
