As a Junior Podcast & Content Producer, you will run the whole process of making the popular Business Unusual podcast – from the first idea to the final splash on social media. This role is perfect for a fresh graduate who wants to learn fast, work with top South African business leaders, and help grow a podcast audience.

What You’ll Do Every Day

  • Plan and produce each podcast episode – you’ll map out the steps, book guests, set up recordings, edit the audio, and publish the final show.
  • Talk to guests and hosts – arrange interview times, give them a quick rundown of what will happen, and handle any travel or technical needs.
  • Record and edit sound – use tools like Audacity or Adobe Audition to make sure the audio sounds clean and professional.
  • Find story ideas – research current business trends, spot interesting guests, and suggest topics that fit the Business Unusual theme.
  • Write show notes and promo copy – craft short descriptions, episode summaries, and eye‑catching posts for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms.
  • Work with the marketing team – share episodes, create teaser clips, and use data to boost listens, views, and follower counts.
  • Create short video or audio clips – cut out bite‑size moments that can be shared on social media to attract new listeners.
  • Track performance – watch stats like plays, shares, and comments, then suggest ways to improve reach.
  • Help with other media projects – lend a hand to any extra content work the company needs, such as blog posts or webinars.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree or diploma in Media, Journalism, Communications, Film, Sound Engineering, or a related field.
  • A genuine interest in podcasts, business stories, and online media.
  • Basic know‑how of audio editing software (Audacity, Adobe Audition, GarageBand, etc.).
  • Strong organization skills – you can juggle several tasks and meet deadlines without stress.
  • Good written and spoken communication – you can explain ideas clearly and write engaging copy.
  • Ability to research topics and pull together accurate information quickly.
  • Familiarity with social media trends and how to grow an audience.
  • A creative, proactive, and detail‑oriented attitude.

Why Join Topco Media?
