About the Role

The Woolworths TASTE team creates food‑related content for the Woolworths website, newsletters, videos, print magazines and social media. They need a motivated Digital Editorial Intern to help the editorial crew produce online content. This 12‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑moving content‑marketing department.

What You’ll Do Day‑to‑Day

  • Upload recipes, articles and short videos to the TASTE website.
  • Resize and rename images so they load quickly on the site and in newsletters.
  • Help put together weekly and monthly newsletters for subscribers.
  • Keep the website homepage fresh and tidy; moderate reader comments.
  • Join brainstorming sessions for new print articles, web pieces and digital campaigns.
  • Write list‑style articles, food columns and short news posts for taste.co.za.
  • Apply basic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) techniques so Google and other search tools can find the content easily.
  • Search for keywords that inspire new story ideas and support editors.
  • Write meta‑titles, meta‑descriptions and alt‑text for images to boost online visibility.
  • Test AI tools that can speed up editing, image tagging or content ideas.
  • Assist on video shoots – setting up equipment, handling props and sometimes appearing on‑camera as a member of the TASTE crew.

Skills You’ll Pick Up

Working side‑by‑side with the Content Lead, Social Media Manager and Editorial Assistant, you’ll see every step of a story’s life: from the first idea, through filming or photography, to publishing online.

  • Basic Photoshop or Canva skills for image tweaks.
  • Simple video editing (cutting clips, adding captions).
  • Scheduling posts with tools like Hootsuite or Buffer.
  • Running SEO and AEO checks with free or built‑in tools.
  • Trying out AI helpers such as chat‑based writers or image generators.

Strategic Insight

  • Best ways to upload content, resize pictures, design newsletters and plan social posts.
  • Core SEO and AEO rules that help articles rank higher.
  • How content marketing works in a real business setting.
  • Balancing what a client wants with what audiences actually enjoy.
