Weylandts Furniture Creation Upholstery Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Foam Upper Vacancies. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2026.
Who We Are
Weylandts is a well‑known name in the world of home furniture. Our Cape Town workshop makes sofas, chairs and other pieces that look great and feel comfortable. To keep our quality high, we need people who can work with foam, padding and other soft materials. If you like building things with your hands and paying close attention to detail, the Foam Upper role might be a perfect fit.
What the Job Is About
A Foam Upper’s main task is to get furniture frames ready for the upholsterers. This means:
- Cutting foam, batting or padding to the right size.
- Shaping the foam so it fits the chair or sofa’s curve.
- Gluing the material in place with the correct adhesive.
- Checking each frame before the foam goes on, so nothing is missed.
The work is done side‑by‑side with upholsterers and other production staff, so good teamwork is a must. The goal is to finish each piece on time, with the comfort and look that Weylandts promises its customers.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
| What you’ll do | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Apply foam, batting and padding according to the design sheet | Guarantees the right level of comfort |
| Cut and shape foam accurately for backs, seats, arms, etc. | Keeps the furniture looking sharp |
| Use the right glue and tools to lock the foam in place | Prevents the material from moving later |
| Build up foam layers to reach the required softness and shape | Gives the final product its “just right” feel |
| Inspect each frame before adding foam | Stops mistakes before they happen |
| Work closely with upholsterers to keep the line moving | Helps the whole team meet daily targets |
| Keep waste low and report any damaged material | Saves money and protects the environment |
| Maintain a tidy, safe work area | Reduces accidents and speeds up work |
| Follow Weylandts quality rules and production steps | Ensures every piece meets the brand’s standards |
What We’re Looking For
