  • Keep the dispensary tidy and the shelves organised at all times.
  • Read prescriptions carefully and follow SAPC rules when filling them.
  • Pick, pack, label and double‑check medication before it is handed to a customer.
  • Make sure a pharmacist signs off on every medicine before it leaves the counter.
  • Watch stock levels, note expiry dates and keep the shelves neat.
  • Call patients to remind them about prescriptions or upcoming appointments when needed.
  • Answer phone calls and help with call‑centre pharmacy services.
  • Give basic health advice to patients, always under the pharmacist’s supervision.
  • Process authorisations for chronic, HIV/AIDS and cancer medicines.
  • Tell the Dispensary Manager if any stock is low, missing or not matching the records.
  • Receive new stock and store it according to Dis‑Chem’s standard procedures.

These tasks give you a solid foundation for a long‑term pharmacy career.

  • Real‑world experience – every day you’ll be working side‑by‑side with qualified pharmacists.
  • Career path – after registration with the SAPC, you may move into a permanent pharmacy role.
  • Skill development – you will improve your communication, customer service, teamwork and technical pharmacy abilities.
