About the Job: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a public entity that operates under the NQF Act, No. 67 of 2008. SAQA is looking for a Systems Specialist: ICT Database Administrator to manage and maintain data within SAQA databases. You’ll also perform various duties as required by the Manager of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Be sure to attach a cover letter, your CV, and at least three references when you apply.

Job Requirements:

  • A recognized qualification at NQF Level 6 on the 10 Level NQF, or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in SQL, MySQL, and Oracle database administration.
  • 2 years of experience working in the Cloud environment, like Microsoft Azure and DevOps.
  • 3 years of experience in applications support and programming.
  • A qualification at NQF Level 7 on the 10-Level NQF or equivalent, with more than 5 years of experience in IT, Python, PHP, and ETL is a plus.
  • Knowledge of IT laws and regulations, information systems, digitization trends, IT architecture, Azure DevOps, IT security, data management, and system design.
  • Skills in problem-solving, project management, and building alliances.

Key Duties:

  • Plan, create, and implement database systems.
  • Improve database systems.
  • Monitor performance, integrity, and security of databases.
  • Plan for database and application capacity.
  • Develop and maintain programs in Oracle, SQL, MySQL, and Azure platforms.
  • Manage software as a service, infrastructure/servers, and/or platform as a service.
  • Provide user support and training to improve information systems applications and databases.
  • Solve users’ problems related to information systems applications and databases.
