PSiRA Invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Study Bursary Programme 2026 vacancies. The closing date for applications is 31 December 2025.
What is the PSiRA Study Bursary Programme?
PSiRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority) wants to help people grow in the security sector. They’re offering money to support students who want to study things like security technology, fire safety, or law enforcement. If you’re interested in a career in security, this is your chance to get financial help so you can focus on school instead of worrying about tuition.
Who Can Apply?
- Work in security or have a parent who is a registered security officer – PSiRA counts as a supportive partner if somebody in your family works with them.
- Both you and the parent must be South African citizens – No foreign students.
- Age – You must be born between 19 and 35 years old.
- School status – You need a finished Grade 12 and must enroll in an accredited school or college in 2026.
- All provinces are welcome – No matter which part of South Africa you live in, you can apply.
How Much Money Can You Get?
| Course Level | Monthly Amount (VAT included) | Annual Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate (TVET) | Up to R25,000 per year | R25,000 |
| Undergraduate Diploma / Degree | Up to R45,000 per year | R45,000 |
PSiRA does not cover postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD).
The money will be used for tuition fees only, and it covers a full‑time 12‑month period in the 2026 academic year.
If you’ve already received funding from PSiRA before, you’ll need to show your old grades and a short note on how much you still owe so they can decide if you’re eligible for new support.
What Documents Do You Need?
- Completed Application Form – ask your school, a work mentor, or the PSiRA website for a copy.
- Certified ID copies of you and the legal parent/guardian, issued within the last three months.
- Proof of Enrollment – a letter or certificate from your school or college showing you’re registered for 2026.
- PSiRA Registration Number of the parent or guardian – place it next to their name in the application.
- Affidavit proving the legal guardian relationship (if applicable).
- Abridged Birth Certificate – to confirm who the legal parent is.
All these papers must be clear, legible, and official so PSiRA can verify them quickly.
