As a Residence Officer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that student residences are safe, clean, and conducive to a healthy study environment. This includes overseeing cleaning, hygiene, building inspections, and cost-effective maintenance.
💪 Key Responsibilities
🏠 1. Maintenance of Equipment & Buildings
- Inspect residences daily and report any issues.
- Submit maintenance requests and follow up to ensure the work is completed.
- Oversee and manage building repair budgets to ensure all repairs stay within budget.
- Document issues and ensure guilty parties are held accountable for damages.
✨ 2. Cleaning & Hygiene
- Conduct regular hygiene inspections to ensure high standards are met.
- Oversee and manage the work of cleaning contractors.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are followed, and materials are ordered on time.
⚠️ 3. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
- Act as a Safety Representative for student residences.
- Ensure compliance with OHS standards and report any incidents.
- Plan and ensure evacuation procedures are followed during emergencies.

📝 Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
✅ Matric Certificate (Grade 12, NQF Level 4)
✅ 2 years of experience in a university residence environment
✅ Valid driver’s license
⭐ Preferred Skills & Added Advantages
- Hospitality experience (minimum of 2 years)
- Computer skills – Able to use technology to manage reports and requests.
- Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills – Ability to work well with students, staff, and contractors.
